This dessert is frequently found in Portuguese restaurants.
It is a very easy, quick, and economical dessert.
I always use fresh whipping cream, which is not only healthier but also tastier. If using pasteurized cream, it should be refrigerated for 12 hours before use. Traditionally, this recipe is made with Maria cookies, but you can use other cookies to your taste, such as butter cookies, cinnamon cookies, or Oreo cookies.
